The South By Southwest Music and Media Conference and Festival have just announced that Ann and Nancy Wilson of HEART will appear as featured speakers on Thursday, March 15th, 2012 in the Austin Convention Center. HEART will also perform at SXSW 2012 as showcasing artists, with date and venue information to be announced soon

They will not be playing as many dates as they did last year, but for the most part they are all going to be 90 minute sets.

HEART DON’T MAKE THE CUT FOR 2012 ROCK HALL INDUCTEES

The 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees have been announced and while Heart was nominated for induction, they didn’t make the cut. It doesn’t come as much of a surprise to guitarist Nancy Wilson.

“We sort of get left off a lot of lists a lot of times and I think we just never, we don’t really, we sort of defy the category thing. Cause think of how many other bands fronted by two girls are there out there, that are heavy rock bands – not too many. And we’re not from New York, we’re not from L-A, we’re from Seattle and Vancouver so I think we’re just kind of easily forgotten when it comes to the popularity contest. But we’ve never tried to win a popularity contest and we’re just trying to do good work.”

However, someone from Seattle did make the cut this year. Bassist Duff McKagan will be inducted for his role in Guns N’ Roses. He spoke to us about his hometown friends, Heart.

“I got to know them a bit – I’m the last of eight kids, like my older brothers and sisters, when Heart was playing clubs, I remember them telling me, this was the ‘70s, telling me about this band Heart. Ann and Nancy are ridiculous, ridiculously talented women.”

Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Donovan and The Small Faces/The Faces will all also be honored at the 2012 Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony when it takes place on April 14th in Cleveland.

Heart been eligible for 10 years, finally get consideration, passed over. Disgrace!!
